how to read to baby?
okay so I try to read to my 9 m/o daughter everyday but she gets so excited as soon as I start reading & always grabs the book out of my hand to play/chew on it/look at the big pics, ect
its really cute dont get me wrong but sometimes I cant even get through the first page before shes reaching to take the book from me
I know how important it is to read to her & Ive tried given her another toy to play with while I read but it doesnt work-she wants her hands on the book as soon as she sees me reading LOL
We play alot of Sesame Street-counting, reading, ect DVD’s but I know that too much tv isnt good either & even with that shes not sitting long enough to watch a 45min video
anyway, short of strapping her down (jk!!) does anyone have any tips to read books to their baby when all baby wants to do its grab the book =)
I ended up getting just picture books for ours: Roger Priddy is a great author for this. She and I could/can look at the pictures and name them. Now, I ask her where something is on the page and she points. She just turned 21 months old.
Short of this, just read. If she pulls the book away- discuss the pictures. What you see in the picture, etc. I also read to her when I am nursing her to sleep- which is the nicest thing in the world for both of us.
Look at Amazon.com for Roger Priddy. We have a few of his from there and she loves them.
