My baby doesn’t have a lovey?
My daughter is 10 months old and doesn’t have a lovey. You know like a special blanket or doll that she likes to carry around. Something to comfort her. Is that normal? Is there a way I can present something to her that she can choose or will she pick something in her own time?
I’m just curious because all the baby books ans web sites talk about having a security something (like blanket or doll) and she hasn’t picked one.
I didn’t know it was REQUIRED now for kids to have security items. Sheesh, what people write about these days. lol
I have a very large extended family (both sets of grandparents had 10 kids each) and we’re all very close. Including my brother and myself, I don’t know one kid amongst my cousins to have ever had a security item. Even now with a ton of us married with our own kids, the most anyone’s child has gotten to a security item is we have one kid that used a binky (that’s uncommon for us, but he’s also super shy which is also not common in our kids), and used it until he was 2. That’s about it.
Your kid isn’t weird, she’s very secure in herself and there’s nothing wrong with that. She doesn’t need any outside influences in her life to make her able to cope with the everyday. To me, I think that’s a sign that you’re doing a good job with her. YOU should be the only security “doll” she needs
